The Wilbur  ·  Our Story

More than a century of sweetness, one landmark address.

The building you sleep in tonight spent a century perfuming Lititz with roasting cocoa. This is how a chocolate factory became one of Pennsylvania's most storied hotels.

I.1865

A sweet beginning

Henry Oscar Wilbur begins crafting chocolate, and H.O. Wilbur & Sons quickly builds a name synonymous with quality American cocoa. For generations of confectioners, "Wilbur" meant the good stuff.

II.1894

The Bud before the Kiss

The Wilbur Bud debuts — a tiny, foil-wrapped chocolate blossom that becomes a Pennsylvania legend. It arrived years before a certain more famous competitor's "kiss," and devotees will tell you it never needed the marketing.

Wilbur Buds are still made and beloved today. You can buy them down the block from the hotel's front door.

III.1930s

Broad Street hums

The Lititz factory grows into the heart of town. Generations of families work its floors, railcars of cocoa roll in, and the scent of chocolate settles permanently into the streets — a perfume the town still wears.

IV.2016

The last batch

After more than a century of production, the kettles on Broad Street go cold. But in a town voted the Coolest Small Town in America, nobody was going to let its most iconic address stand quiet for long.

V.Today

The Wilbur is reborn

A meticulous restoration reopens the factory as The Wilbur Lititz, Tapestry Collection by Hilton — 74 rooms wrapped in the original exposed brick, timber bones and factory windows, with live-fire cooking glowing where the kettles once simmered.

The building never really stopped making people happy. It just changed the recipe.

The Restoration

From factory floor to landmark hotel.
